| Training! Does it make
a trackable difference?
As cleaning
professionals we too often view employee training
as simply instructing employees in the "how-to"
methods of daily maintenance procedures. Initially,
you'll see the results of training in the appearance
of the facility. However, if you recognize the
broader objectives of training programs including
increased work force efficiency and better employee
morale, training can yield more tangible results.
Training
employees is one way to empower them. By empowering
employees, we give them responsibility and a
feeling of job ownership. By earning recognition
for their ideas and knowledge, empowered employees
often improve their performance and productivity.
As we know, training will help employees perform
their present job. The benefits of training
may extend throughout a persons entire career
and help develop that person for future responsibilities.
When organizations offer proper training to
their employees, the benefits are enjoyed by
both the employer as well as employee.
Some of the benefits
for your organization:
- Leads to improved profitability,
and more positive attitudes towards profit
orientation.
- Helps people identify with
organizational goals.
- Helps create a better company
image.
- Aids in organizational development.
- Helps keep costs down in
many areas such as, service, personnel and
administration.
- Helps employees adjust to
change, and aids in handling conflict, thereby
helping to reduce stress and tension.
Benefits to the individual:
- Helps the individual make
better decisions and effective problem solving.
- Increases job satisfaction
and recognition.
- Aids in encouraging and achieving
self-development and self-confidence.
- Satisfies personal needs
of the trainer and trainee, and helps eliminate
fear in attempting new tasks.
Learning and Feedback
The feedback you receive from your employees
is important in several ways. It provides a
good picture of how your training is working
in the field. If you notice a particular task
that your employee is doing under satisfaction,
you may find from the employee feedback that
stems from weak training techniques. Feedback
also provides insight how your employees learn.
To most effectively train your employees you
must first assess which learning methods they
respond to. Many learn by doing the task and
others by visualizing Analyzing employee feedback
after training will ultimately improve the effectiveness
of your training.
Statistics Show a 30 to 50% increase
